Description

Lactulose Solution contains Lactulose, a synthetic disaccharide that is not absorbed in the small intestine. In the colon, gut bacteria convert it to organic acids, drawing water into the bowel and softening stools. It also reduces ammonia absorption, making it valuable in hepatic encephalopathy management.

Key Uses: Constipation (including chronic and in elderly patients), pregnancy constipation, portal systemic encephalopathy (PSE) / hepatic encephalopathy, prevention of hepatic coma.

Composition: Lactulose 66.7g per 100ml solution. 100ml bottle.

Dosage: Constipation: 15–45ml daily in divided doses initially; maintenance 15ml daily. PSE: higher doses as prescribed. Can be mixed with water, juice, or milk.

Note: Allow 48–72 hours for initial effect. Safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Suitable for elderly patients.
